Beautiful views while running this out-and-back course! This course is also great to have spectators see you at numerous points throughout the race. With my experiences ranging from Detroit, Chicago, Grandma's (Duluth, MN) and NYC, the race support was second to none.

Traverse City is my home town. Seven years ago, when I started running (at age 43), I could never have imagined doing a marathon. Bayshore was my 8th. It was an amazing experience to run roads I have driven all my life. I felt more intimately connected with the peninsula and bay than I ever have. I also ran in memory of my mom who died three weeks before the race. She was incredibly supportive of my running.

I am biased. It was a perfect day, weather- and temperature-wise. The course has a lovely, gentle roll. Not entirely flat (boring). The spectators were great. Plenty of aid stations. Well organized. Good energy.

Bayshore was my first marathon, and it was an outstanding experience. The out-and-back course is pretty close to flat, and the scenery is gorgeous. My family was able to meet me near Mile 23 and get back to the finish with no hassles, which really helped me through the last miles. The Brooks running shirt was also a cool bonus, especially when you consider the entry fee for this race is just $40.

This was my second Bayshore, and my feelings echo most of the other comments already posted here. Beautiful course, good aid stations, nice finish on a track, neat t-shirt, cool medal, etc.

Bayshore was my 11th marathon, second time I've run the course. Just beautiful. The course is rolling not flat. Great support at the aid stations. They have Ultima to drink, which tasted horrible. The course is not closed to traffic, however, wasn't too bad to deal with in my opinion. I do wish Bayshore organizers would put more port-a-pottys on the course. Just a few were out there. They totally need more, as a friend I was running with had no choice but to wait 5-6 min for the port-a-potty! The shirts were great. I will be back to run this again and again. Running along the water is just beautiful. This race keeps getting better and better every time I run it.

Great race. It would have been better without the traffic on 37, but that wasn't too bad. Great support at the water stops.

This is the second time I've run this marathon, and it remains my favorite for several reasons:(1) basically flat but beautiful course; (2) not crowded - 1,300 runners is just right, and I was able to hit pace right away; (3) awesome organization - packet pick-up was smooth, plenty of support on the course, and well staffed aid stations; (4) friendly - the staff was great, and even the RD e-mailed me in response to a quick question within an hour of me e-mailing him; (5) great Dri-Fit t-shirt; (6)a nice pre-race meeting that you won't get at a big marathon; (7) cool pre-race e-mail updates; and (8) it's wonderful location for a get-away. I could go on and on...

However, if you want to run a big megathon - this isn't for you.

Thanks TCTC. Great job again. The names on the bibs were a cool addition - it's a little thing that makes a big difference. You folks did everything right. I'll be back again!

This is THE Michigan marathon for all you 50 staters. When your old running buddies talk fondly of how races use to be, this is the race that they're talking about. The one that gives them that twinkle in their eye about road racing. Real laid back. Great organization. Friendly people who made my day special and so much fun. Thanks a ton. Worth the 7 hour drive and more. The course is a fun out-and-back with a few rolling grades. No killer hills here. Really. Most of the course is shaded and the locals who live along the way came out and cheered. Kids were a blast at the water stops.

"So good it was like magic!!" (about: 2004)

First Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 3

This was my first marathon, and I don't think it could have been any better. The weather was perfect--40 at the start and gradually climbing to the high 50s. The course was great--very flat and scenic. I really enjoyed the out & back since it gave me a chance to see the leaders and everyone else. The volunteers were enthusiastic and the fans kind of adopted the runners. It was great to hear strangers who moved along the course shouting, 'There she is!' I entered with 4 other first-timers and we all had great experiences. The TC Track Club knows how to do a great race!

One downer: Most hotels require a 2-night stay, so this was a bit of a pain, since we only needed 1 night. Be sure to call early.
