COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I can't say enough positives about this race! I loved Jim's prerace emails. They got me pumped up and excited about the race while providing important information. Everything about this race was well organized, from the volunteers to the water stations and port-o-Johns (How did you get so many teenagers up at that early an hour???). It was easy to park to get on the buses and I had a minimal distance to walk afterwards to get back to the hotel. Even getting my bag afterwards was fast and easy. This is such a great, positive race and I would gladly do it again. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 If you're not interested in running a marathon that offers first class organization, enthusiastic, friendly and helpful volunteers, supportive and vocal spectators, flawless logistics, a favorable point-to-point course with a trail component, an expo with everything you need and expect (unless you need vendors hawking every running product known to mankind), and management that is all about making this marathon a positive experience for the runners, then you need to find yourself another marathon. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Among the many, many wonderful aspects of this race,the one that truly stands out is Assistant Race Director Jim Cumming's notes. Pithy, helpful, hilarious, you name it. I loved these notes. The course is great, the spectators are greater. Bussing to the start was easy peasy. I loved it. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Very well organized from the entertaining emails before and after the race, bus ride to the start, the kids at the high school, water stops,volunteers, the fans , the course itself. Have good memories from the 3 I ran in the 90's, and I have great memories from this one. THANKS FOR A JOB WELL DONE! | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was my 2nd Steamtown in a row. I have been running marathons for 35 years and this is by far the best course, most efficiently run, and the best group of volunteers that I have come across. The running expo was outstanding and provided valuable advice if applied on race day. The communications was by far one of the best aspects of this race. Jim did an outstanding job of keeping us informed. I am looking forward to Steamtown's 20th anniversary next year and hope to qualify for Boston. I did manage to cut 4 min from last year. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was my 3rd marathon and I was blown away. The busses to the start line were super quick and efficient. There was a warm gym to wait in at the start. The course was awesome...love the hills and the trail. Super friendly crowd & wonderful post race food. Coffee...donuts...soup...so much! Wonderful pasta party the night before. I plan to come back next year and I always said I would not run the same marathon twice. This is a must-do marathon! | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 One of the most enjoyable races that I've ever run. Course is very much like Boston's. Great qualifier. Can't say enough about how friendly the staff, volunteers and crowd were throughout the event. Emails leading up to the event are informative and quite hilarious. Pre race pasta dinner was superb. Very unpretentious. You sense right out of the gates that the organizers do this because of their love of the sport. Seems to attract a lot of happy, talented, respectful runners from throughout the area. I would recommend as a great first marathon but make sure to have strong quads for the downhills. Was more than worth the 3 and 1/2 hour drive and price of admission. | |

"Phenomenal marathon for a first timer" (about: 2014)
First Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I have absolutely no complaints. This race was everything I had hoped for, and more. The volunteers and traffic control were outstanding. The locals were also very supportive and encouraging, overall. Many people set up their own water stations, offering bottles of water, candy, fruit, band aids, paper towels, etc. that they probably bought themselves. The course offered a variety of surfaces. Great post race dinner for the marathoner and their family! The race director provided funny, yet appropriately informative emails, and was quick to respond when I realized I wasn't receiving them early on & sent them to a different email address. I would certainly recommend this race to any first time marathoner. | |

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 This was my first marathon, and everything from the beautiful scenery to the super-supportive spectators and staff helped me get to the finish line. The race was well-organized, the mile markers were clearly visible, and the course itself was well-marked. The advice of other runners at the expo was very helpful in game planning for the course. | |
