Carey Pinkowski deserves kudos for another great race. Volunteers were outstanding - they rival those of any race I've ever run. Overall organization is superb. The only one item I would change is that the entry into the seeded corrals needs to be better marked and easier to access. It has a very fast course, and we were fortunate to have great weather.

This was my first full marathon and I LOVED IT. The City of Chicago impressed me mile after mile. I've been a visitor of the city many times, but this time I got to see so many neighborhoods that I've never been to. The aid stations were amazing. I liked the length of them, as I could get a refreshment at the beginning or end. The volunteers were AMAZING. They were so sweet and so helpful. This was, hands down, the best race ever. I will definitely do this race again, as well as spread the good word. Chicago, you get an A+.

"Good crowd support but nightmare at the corrals." (about: 2009)

Outside of the starting area, it was a great race. Crowd support was AWESOME! Getting to bag-check and your corral was a nightmare, however. There were so many spectators/family members at the corrals that the runners couldn't get through; we needed some race officials for traffic control! There was not much in the way of food after the race, either.

Chicago was perfect on race day and the marathon organizers had everything perfect too! Great job to all who ran and volunteered!

"Beautiful crowd and volunteers!" (about: 2009)

I ran to PR in the heat of '08 with awesome crowd support.

I expected diminished crowd with the much cooler, November-like weather this year, but the '09 crowd was all the more amazing.

The volunteer participation and kindness exceeded any expectations I could have imagined.

The course is built for speed, but fair. I'm disappointed in having missed my BQ time by 2:41, but I still managed another PR by more than three minutes and by almost 10 minutes better than my Chicago time last year.

Special thanks to Mickayla from TIU for helping this wobbly-legged finisher all the way through the crowded finish chute!

Also thanks to Goose Island Beer Company for again offering up your delicious brew to all the finishers. It went down smoothly in the heat of last year and tasted every bit as satisfying this time around.

My only suggestion for improvement would be to re-design the logistics and people-movement for seeded corral gear-check, start corral entry, finish chute exit, and seeded corral gear-pickup.

I love this race and will run it again!

I have done other marathons, but nothing compared to this. The weather was perfect, the course was interesting and the crowds were very encouraging. It was great to head back east after mile 15 and see the skyline.

The weather cleared up just in time to give us a great day for a run. The course was very well marked and the clocks at every marker made the markers stand out even more. Spectators lined both sides of the street for almost the entire length. Everyone was so motivating. I don't know if I will every get back to Chi-town, but if I do, I will have some high expectations.

Thank you to all who help organize and support this event. Excellent job!

I have done the Chicago Marathon three times and love it. It is a great way to see an amazing city and all its diversity. Only problem is that Chicago weather is extremely unpredictable. In 2006, the high temp was 45 degrees; in 2007, the marathon was canceled due to extreme heat (it got up to 93 degrees). But that is Chicago for you. I would recommend this marathon to anyone. It is a very flat course with tremendous crowd support the WHOLE 26 miles. You also get to see a beautiful city and all its neighborhoods.
