Race Details

Men and women will traverse nearly 150 miles across the Sahara Desert of Morocco over seven days while carrying all of their food and gear. Only a ration of nine liters of water and an open-sided Berber tent are provided daily to competitors.

Danny Bobrow from Chicago, IL (6/23/2010) "Well supported and as hard as you want it to be" (about: 2010) 6-10 previous marathons \| 1 Marathon des Sables COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 1 I ran, actually began trekking, a conservative race. As it progressed, I realized what I could reasonably demand of my body, and improved steadily. Key is to keep hydrated, nourished, rested, and moving.

The organization was flawless. It was a very soul-searching experience - just you against you, in the desert. Running for five hours solid the first day was no problems, with the beautiful scenery. Day two, however, was tough; my feet were bad from the dunes, and the days that followed were painful. Still, a wonderful experience. A must-do!!
