"Double-out-and-back course" (about: 2002)
COURSE: 2 ORGANIZATION: 2 FANS: 2 Weird marathon you love or hate: 1. Double out-and-back course is scenic and too much like running laps. 2. Reliable aid stations. 3. No mile markers. 4. Freindly and supportive director and staff. 5. Farm dogs. 6. Truck traffic (10-wheelers) from a mill on the race course. 7. Course is not in Olympia as indicated on the undated T-shirts. 8. Cold beer in Elma.

"Good attempt, but too small to recommend" (about: 2002)
COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 3 FANS: 1 Nice people, gentle course, good weather, good aid stations. Poor restroom facilities, double out and back was a bit boring, Sunday would be a better day to run (understand that is the usual day), very little crowd participation and no entertainment, plan on running alone; hardly seeing a person in front of you (unless you bring a partner).

"Disclose double-out-back" (General Comments)
COURSE: 2 ORGANIZATION: 3 FANS: 1 1. Double out and back course is like running laps, no matter how scenic. 2. Truck traffic (10-wheelers headed for a mill on the course). 3. Gu didn't show up. 4. No mile markers. 5. Farm dogs. 6. This is not Puget Sound nor Olympia, Washington as indicated by the undated T-Shirt. 7. Friendly, supportive race staff and director. 8. Cold beer in Elma. 9. Weird marathon. You love it or hate it.

"Double out and back...OW!" (General Comments)
COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 3 FANS: 1 Very scenic course but double out and back is a bit tough mentally. Sparse if any mile markers make it also a bit difficult to gauge pacing. Excellent aid stations and the race director is a prince of a guy.

"well run small marathon" (about: 2001)
COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 1 friendly, 'grassroots' marathon, great cameraderie, reliable aid stations, flat course, good support, especially at the finish by the organizer, everyone was a winner from the first place to the very last one on the course. |
