"Not pretty but the crowd was great" (about: 2017)

The course starts from the top of a hill, then you go down and it's mostly flat until the 39th km, then you need to go up the hill again. I didn't mind it, there was great support from the crowd, I must've high-fived 50 people during the run. The scenery was ugly, organization was not so good, but emotionally, I think this was one of the better marathons I had.

"The race had great running atmosphere" (about: 2017)

The race route was equipped with water stations for every 5K. I did the half marathon so that helped me along. Also, fruit was there for you to get but u must bring your gel. There was many onlookers on race course and cheer people and bands. Race entry very good. Many people in 5K with kids and dog entries. Great as family friendly. They had a couple pacers. Would recommend this race. Some inclines at the beginning and at the end of the race. I heard the marathon had 2 loops so i figure race condition same. 1 big loop and 1 small loop. Weather was perfect for running low 50s.

Belgrade Marathon is probably best marathon in the world!

"Could do better" (about: 2011)

I have to agree with the previous review. The organization is poor. From the standing around in the Square waiting to be let in to the hut which is their registration hall - I witnessed several people blatantly pushing in and almost forcing their way inside. To the feeding stations which were manned by one or two people using jugs to fill cups. Its only upside was it was fairly late start time - although this meant getting sun burnt limbs. I wouldn't mind having traveled from Vienna by train to do it, but from the word go it just seemed ill conceived. Serbia can do better I am sure, and more so with Rosa Mota on board. I hope this does improve.

"Poor, old Belgrade" (about: 2011)

Have to agree with the previous runner. Belgrade was pretty poor planned from start to finish. To register and collect race numbers, they had a small hut in the main square and let in 15 people at a time - apart from the ones who pushed in regardless. Then there were the water stations - poorly managed and with only a few cups. All in all, not a well organized event. Only thankful I don't have to go here again - and I had traveled down on the overnight sleeper from Vienna for the privilege. Only upside was meeting marathon great Rosa Mota at the event and also the mascot from Serbia. Otherwise, give this event a wide berth.

"OK race, could use improvement." (about: 2010)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Belgrade Marathon
COURSE: 2  ORGANIZATION: 3  FANS: 3

The Belgrade course is not very pretty. Course was mostly flat with a few hills at the beginning and end. Water, Gatorade-like drink, and bananas were on the course, and distributed well. Bring your own gel though! Locals pay around 750 Serbian Dinars while everyone else pays 3000 Serbian Dinars. That was a bit strange to me. At every iInternational" race I've run in, everyone pays the same price except the Elites. The t-shirt was crummy - no Dri-Fit-like shirt, which most European races have these days! And no chip! What did the 3000 Dinar entry fee go to? The kilometers were not all marked, which left you wondering your pace. Half marathon was marked only till 8K, and then the rest was just a guess. I could not see the pacers until later in the race, as they did not carry flags. Weather was good - in the 70's with a bit of wind. I don't think I will return next year.
