"Disappointing experience, but flat course" (about: 2025)

This was my first marathon ever. The race was postponed 2 weeks due to the LA fires. There ended up only being like 35 marathon participants. The start time was changed without an official email and only word of mouth which obviously hadn't been well communicated because I showed up for the original 6:30am start time- as did MANY others. The porta potties weren't at every aid station as they had advertised and the course was an out and back half marathon course that marathoners had to do twice through. Great police support at intersections, but they started to close the running lanes far too early (before even 11:30am) and made us run up on the winding sidewalks instead of the road course. Mostly flat which was very nice, but almost no spectators and with only 35 marathoners, you pretty much ran alone the whole race. Disappointing finish line as most of it was cleaned up before even half of the marathoners had finished. I did love the necklace that is given instead of a finishers medal. Much more usable, but I do kind of still want a marathon medal.
