Yator and Kraus battle the heat to take the Düsseldorf Marathon
(IAAF) Bellor Yator and Melanie Kraus battled hot weather conditions to win the men's and women's races of the 2008 Dusseldorf Marathon. Although the race organizers were looking for a sub 2:10, the weather prevented, Yator, the defending champion in the men's race, from beating his course record of 2:09:47. Yator won in 2:11:15. Zakaria Abdulhak and Riyadh Almustafa finished second and third with 2:11:37 and 2:11:41. Kraus won the women's race in 2:28:56 and secured an Olympic berth for the Beijing Games. Tsige Worku and Kiraz Ummü were second and third in 2:38:10 and 2:38:25 respectively. |
