1st Marathon to Begin 'Run for the Kids'
Monaco Marathon Training Program
Benefiting the Boys and Girls Clubs of the East Valley on June 25
PHOENIX—June 13, 2005—1st Marathon, LLC, a nationwide provider of marathon
training programs, today announced a June 25, 2005, start date for the 'Run
for the Kids' Monaco Marathon training program, which includes a fundraiser
to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of the East Valley. Training begins at
6 a.m. at Granada Park in Phoenix.
The Marathon de Monaco et des Riviera will take place on Nov. 13, 2005. The
course for the race, which also includes a 10K, starts in Monte Carlo,
Monaco, and traverses through three countries – Monaco, France and Italy –
along the shores of French Mediterranean Sea.
Coached by professional trainers, the program is designed for runners or
walkers, ranging from the beginner to recreational athlete. It includes a
monthly training schedule with weekly track workouts, Saturday morning runs
and 24-hour, seven-day-a-week support. Participants also receive a team
racing uniform, weekly seminars and discounts at local retail
running/triathlon stores.
"This training program is perhaps the best we have ever planned. The kids
of the Boys and Girls Clubs get to actively see and participate in the
program as their 'Run for the Kids' TEAM prepares to go off and run a
marathon in their name, to raise funds for this very important
organization," said Brian Collins, founder of 1st Marathon.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of the East Valley provide dynamic programs and
services to more than 11,000 youth between the ages of 6 and 18 in the
communities of Apache Junction, Williams Campus, Chandler, Gilbert,
Guadalupe, Mesa, Tempe and the Gila River Indian Community. Members
participate in after-school and summer activities in recreation, education,
peer leadership, computer technology, substance abuse prevention, physical
fitness and the performing arts.
