The posted expo hours changed from ending at 8:00 P on Saturday to 7:00 P. I had to change my flight to make sure I got to the Expo. I had requested a coral change back in mid-summer (as per directions) and I never got a response. I resubmitted request and was told it was too late. Poor communication for such a big organization. Tech shirt was pretty skimpy. Registration fee is very high for what you get. Not enough port-o-johns at the start by a long shot! The bottle neck into the secured area at the start was due to bag check but not everyone was getting checked - what's the point. Marathon runners should get to start first - maybe 30 minutes before the half. Running the strip was cool. But from mile 9 to ~mile 22 it is pretty dark and lonely. Not enough bands in that stretch for a true Rock 'n Roll marathon. So overall experience - not worth the money.

"Not worth the money" (about: 2013)

Did the City of Las Vegas even know there was a race coming to town? There was little fan fare or advertising! No banners, signs, flyers. Even at the shops, local workers were unaware of the race.

Did the Taxi community know there was a race coming? Many did know where the start was, what roads to use, etc. I'm not blaming RR team but maybe the logistics came be explained better to the City, hotels, and support elements?

The medal was not bad but far from great. Disappointed that it's nearly identical to the half marathon medal. Takes some of the prestige off the marathon.

Likewise with the shirts. Very average. Really disappointed the shirt is the same for the half and the marathon. Race Director: There is a difference between the two races! Reflect this with unique medals and shirts! See Disney and Baltimore Marathons.

Not enough portable restrooms. Lines were far too long. See Chicago Marathon, for how to do it right.

A Rock n Roll event with very few bands? Odd.

A very lonely course after the strip. Very little to 'see' or view. Almost like doing a training run. Few spectators. Poor lighting. Have you tried recruiting fraternities? Sororities? UNLV? National Guard? Army Reserve units? Smaller charities?

No corral discipline. There were walkers in Corral 5.

Not a fan of the half marathon starting with the Marathon.

What was up with the security company hired? It was like Acme Security from a cartoon! They were unprofessional, aggressive, and caustic. Moreover, they did a horrible job checking my bag for weapons! They literally just looked 'at' the bag, then waved me on! In these volatile times, you need to be vigilant!

The Positive? Running the strip was very cool. A Female shirt- thumbs up!

"Awesome race, have you run Vegas at Night?" (about: 2013)

Large fun race with alot of half marathoners (if it wasn't for them the race would not happen, so be careful what you wish for) but us marathoners had Freemont Street (out and back) to ourselves and our own finish lane on LVB. Enjoyed most of the bands, the spectators, racers and of course my huge marathon PR. Suggest eating a late morning brunch, dress light and set/maintain a comfortable pace. Couple of the mile markers were in the wrong location. Plenty of race support to include fluids and 2 GU stops. Most of the pacers looked like they did a good job of running their BQ pace times. Marathon photo didn't send photographers out to miles 10-22, but there was plenty of race support and these are the miles I like to zone out on so for me the course was perfect. Having cooler finish line temps then what we had at the start was money, start was in the mid 60s and they fell to the low 50s at the finish with a light wind. I would run this race again but first I have plenty more states to hit up.

"fun to run at night with no worries about heat" (about: 2013)

I'm not a fan of Las Vegas, but it was fun to run at night down the Strip and see all the lights, people, and crazy action. I would like more porta-potties at the start, but overall the organization was great. I went to the Expo Friday when it wasn't as crowded which I highly recommend. Most of the time the course wasn't too crowded, and when the half-marathoners split the course really opened up. Even though we ran through some darker areas in northern Las Vegas, there were always police at intersections and enough people around I felt comfortable and safe. The waterstops and volunteers were excellent. The only downside was at the end. There were a couple of long blocks in the corral that just went on forever. At the end of 26.2 I didn't want to have to continue on for a longer distance just to get a bagel, water and chocolate milk. The gear check was even farther away. This is a fun race to do once for the experience.

Very well organized. This was the first marathon I ever run in my life and it was really enjoyable. I would do it again.

"dark, fun, organized, great expo" (about: 2013)

Expo was phenomenal, with lots of freebies. Met allyson Felix, who was so sweet. Whole weekend was very organized. Stayed at the Wynn the night prior. They offered a complimentary shuttle (long lines) & gave us gifts to wish us well. Race was well aided, perfect temps, loved the wave start. The course climbed 1500 feet, but the darkness gave it a much flatter feel. Some areas were so dark making it difficult to run. The strip was spectacular, freemont street was crazy & motivating. Over half of the race was dark & quiet, which I didn't mind, but many might. The band's were horrible and few in number, but the other music was great. Shirt was unimpressive, but the medal was nice. Photos & results were timely. Even though 30000 rtan this, it was never too crowded. I enjoyed the course, but I like solitude. I could see how some get lonely and cold out there

"Best Yet!" (about: 2013)

I have run this race 6 times and 5 years in a row and this year was best yet! I was worried about the 1/2 and full starting together in the same corrals but it went well and the separate lanes when we rejoined at the end made it great! I PR'd and BQ'd Finally it all came together!

"Very cool the first half, frozen & desolate after" (about: 2005)

This was cool running down the strip and through downtown in the early hours with all the drunks and crazies returning home from their night of partying. That was funny and fun. Then the second half of the race arrived and I was running in 32-38 degree weather and freezing my buns off through what looked like Mars. Heard they have changed the start time from AM to PM which probably helps a lot and there is a half that is all on the strip. Much better.

"A Great Marathon Experience" (about: 2012)

I ran the half in 2011, and, despite all of the organizational issues, had a huge PR so I set my sights on the full for 2012. I thought the overall organization was excellent and much better than 2011. Plenty of fluids along the course, great course markings and I appreciated the course itself, especially running through the brightly lit indoor mall at Mile 22 after many dark, more quiet miles. My goal was 4 hours and I missed it by 9 minutes but given the wind, I was very happy with my performance and the race.
