I had a blast yesterday! It was my first time in a marathon, and I walked the half. Everyone was fantastic to runners and walkers alike. It was so exciting to get to see Pittsburgh that way. I can't wait until next year to be able to do it again--maybe I'll be able to run some of it by then!

The expo was excellent, with an appearance by Bill Rodgers. The race started smoothly, and we had wonderful marathon weather. Great fan support and aid stations. Lots of bands. Can't wait until next year.

The race director, staff, and city political types did more than get it right this time; they nailed it. From my perspective, they earned the highest marks I can bestow. Very well done.

We awaited this one's return, and we were not disappointed. The course was in great condition. I had no issues with traffic; it was extremely well marked, with ample aid/fluid stations, staffed by enthusiastic volunteers. And Mother Nature smiled on us today, to boot. It had all of the right ingredients for a winning combination.

Welcome back to the marathon big leagues, Pittsburgh. We missed you.

It was great getting back to my home town to run the 20th annual Pittsburgh Marathon. It's great running through the different parts of the city, which allows you truly to appreciate what it has to offer. It has a great course; it's pretty much flat (except for the hill climbing into Oakland, which isn't that bad unless your from Nebraska where we have no hills for training)! Great sponsorship, and a well organized race overall; BUT the fan support was lackluster at best. They need training too! I will definitely be back!

The organizers and the City of Pittsburgh put on an outstanding race, and they deserve all of the praise and accolades they get. Outstanding. Thank you.

Thought this day would never come - the return of the Pittsburgh Marathon. I first ran the race back in 1990.

The original course start (at the Pittsburgh Zoo) will always reign supreme in the hearts of local runners, but the current modified course (starting and ending downtown) still is better than most marathons I've done.

The belief that there are killer hills is way overblown. A very slight and quick climb into Oakland should be a piece of cake for anyone. One caveat: there's not much shade on the second half of the course, so be prepared. Wear sunblock and get cold fluids in you. Otherwise, once you run this race, you'll always come back.

A great marathon with excellent organization and very supportive crowds. One major hill that, for Pittsburgh, is not that bad.

I have run this marathon twice. The first time that I ran it, it was my first marathon. This is a great mid-size race. The course really is not that difficult, the spectators are wonderful, supportive and encouraging, and the organization is top-notch. I definitely will be running this year and plan to bring out some newcomers to marathoning. Thanks to Dick's Sporting Goods for bringing this great marathon back!!!

I was so excited when I got the flier in the mail. It will have been 5 years without this marathon when I finally get to run it again in '09. Can't wait to be back - a challenging course, great crowd and usually moderate weather (save 2000) make this one a fun one.

This marathon is well-organized and has exceptional amenities. The course is scenic and the crowds are wonderful. Don't be put off by others who say this is a hilly course - it really isn't. Jim's Pace Team Leaders are experts and will bring you in at your goal time. Be sure to use them!
