Pros: Incredible organization. From initial registration through the entire race. Chris Field obviously cares immensely about runners, and it shows in each and every detail. If you want to feel 'important' and wanted, this is a great race. We chose this event over Dallas - even though Dallas runs right through our neighborhood.

Great that 100% of the proceeds went for great causes - including freeing slave children in Ghana.

Kudos to 'segregating' the food. Often Marathoners are left with nothing (or nothing fun) to eat at the finish. Solved by serving breakfast tacos and pizza to the Half Marathoners (I was in that group) and serving BBQ exclusively to the marathoners (my wife).

Cons:
Only one. Lots and lots of concrete. While I haven't yet felt any pain, it was a bit rugged to run on. While it may be the way BCS has, it wasn't easy.

My first half was the B/CS marathon. My second half was not. I was expecting the same as my first and the second didnt deliver! Once you run the B/CS marathon you become SPOILED!!! I LOVE B/CS Marathon!!!

Loved this race, communication and encouragment weeks before the race helped me stay motivated. The race had plenty of volunteers that made running enjoyable, also the medals are probably the best looking things I have ever seen.

This race was organized with such a personal touch and interaction between so many of the runners involved that it felt like a nice morning run with several thousand good friends (and a lot of friendly faces and kids cheering along the way). I had no such plans, but I will now re-plan next year, just so I can run this race again.

I ran the half-marathon and was very impressed by the organization and excitement exhibited by this race - its organizers and volunteers. The race went out of its way to make sure everything was great. I will be back next year!

"Communication was AWESOME!!!!!" (about: 2012)

First Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

This was my first half marathon and I had a blast. There was AT LEAST weekly communication about the organization and direction of this race. Not to mention the inspirational facebook status updates put up by Chris almost daily. He has a gift or building anticipation and excitement and does not disappoint come race time. As a first timer the communication really helped me to prepare and feel like I knew what to expect on race day.

This was my second time to run the BCS marathon, and it just keeps getting better! The director and his staff did an awesome job! The attention to details, from start to finish was great! We got constant updates concerning weather, etc. when the forecast showed higher than normal temps, the director made several last minute changes to help. everyone beat the heat. You got the feeling that he really cared about the runners and their safety.

"A race that understands runners" (about: 2012)

I have run 20 full marathons and have never felt as cared for and taken care of by a race. The pre-race communication and personal attention by the race director is fabulous! Plenty of parking and easy logistics at the start line. More than enough volunteers on the course and great fluid stops. Seemed like every stop also had full medical. I particularly enjoyed the stops with cold towels. While there was not a lot of places for spectators, the race did a great job of creating a spectator guide that my family could follow. For a small town race, this was fabulous!

"Awesome Experience" (about: 2012)

First Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This was my first ever long distance run and everything went perfect. Chris did an awesome job at organizing the expo and race. The course was excellent and the spectators kept me going even when I wanted to stop. Without the officers, spectators and volunteers, the race would not have been possible. It was such a great experience that I cannot wait for next year!
