COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 When Dallas got cancelled on Friday before race day, we scrambled for another race to run that weekend. We found this race, but it was sold out. Fortunately, the race director generously decided to open up a limited # of spots since he had some cancellations. Very glad we got in! Great race with top notch organization. Chris did a fantastic job of communicating through both social media and email about the spots he was going to open up, and lots of other key inforamtion for runners. Excellent race day experience. Course was fairly flat and definitely fast. We lucked out with great conditions as temps were in mid 30's with a light wind. Plenty of aid stations, one every appx 1.5 miles, and several of them had bananas, etc if you needed it during the race. Enjoyed the course as it wound through a lot of neat areas and A&M campus landmarks and had enough turns to break up any long stretches, but not so many it broke your rhythm. Well marked and plenty of volunteers directing us. Probably the best part of the race was the various groups they had out on the course (a lot of student organizations) that were enthusiastically cheering us on a cold day for them to be out. It was a real motivator each time you came through one of these groups and they cheered for you like you were leading the race! While there were not a ton of spectators out on the course, they made up for lack of quantity with quality. Cool finish with pictures of kids they have helped free from slavery through their charity lining the final 400 yards, and the race director was personally greeting runners at the finish! He even went out after the race cutoff and ran the last 10 or so runners in that were left on the course. Very cool! All in all, a top of the line experience that I would highly recommend! Thank you to the entire race committee and volunteers for a fantastic job! I hope to be back soon.

"Truly awesome" (about: 2013)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Fantastic race. The best part was truly the pre-race support never been a part of anything like that before any race. If you join the FB updates, oh my gosh, at the end of the training period it is like you are running with 4000 of your best friends. Before each lonely 5 AM long run, I would read some of the comments on the page and feel so motivated. Chris, the race director was unfailing in his encouragement and support. What a wonderful human being. (I have never met him.)

First Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I've run this half-marathon race every year it has existed. It is a great race with a great purpose. It is run VERY well and they improve it each year based on the comments of those that run in it. Fast course and the spectators come out, regardless of the weather, and are fun!

"Awesome race, support, and organization." (about: 2013)
First Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was my first ever marathon and I couldn't have chose a better one. Flat and fast course, great support throughout the run (especially on campus during the most critical part), awesome organization by the race director, and you honestly couldn't ask for a better race. I would, and have already, recommend this race to anyone. With all of the ice and weather questions the day and night before the race, I was never worried about being informed or not knowing the situation because Chris emailed and Facebooked all updates as needed (even at 1 am on the morning of the race). Great race for a great cause.

"An amazing First Full Marathon experience!" (about: 2013)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 If an injury had not prevented it last year, I would have run my first (but not my only!) Full Marathon out of town. Instead, plans changed and I ran it at home this year, with the best group of organizers, volunteers, and spectators! Having participated in 2 Half Marathons and many long distance bike rides, I can say that the attention to detail, from start to finish, is better than any I have come across before!
