"Needs more hype" (about: 2018)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 3 FANS: 1 Officers were really bad at telling us what direction to take. We literally had to get to the officer for him to tell us instead of smoothly being directed ahead of time. Also at one turn leaving the A&M campus and heading into mile 12 for the half marathon I literally had no idea that I had to cross a 6 lane road to get back on the course. Very poor traffic control on my opinion.

"Great course/spectators but end of race..." (about: 2018)
First Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 This was my first marathon and for the most part it was great. Great course and THE BEST spectators and volunteers. Seriously, every time I wanted to stop, those people gave me that little push to keep going. BUT...I was a little disappointed at the end of race when I was given 1 pepperoni roll. The description on the website said 'a spread at the end of the race to rival any big city race.' I know I finished at the back end of the marathon but seeing some booths pack up as I just got there (ready to celebrate) was a little disheartening. I loved at the end of Buffalo Stampede the festival after the half and the food. Overall though it's great... just something to think about.

"Good Event" (about: 2018)

| 1 Bryan/College Station Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 3 This was my first run at the BCS Marathon. The parking, traffic control and the all was great. My only concern was running through the school I guess about mile 22 or 24 and the cones marking the traffic. I was not sure which side to run on and a car drove upon me. other than that I enjoyed the whole event.

"If an easy marathon to run exists, its this one!" (about: 2018)
1 previous marathon
| 1 Bryan/College Station Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I really appreciated all of the help at each of the mile markers, the volunteers were awesome! I loved how they got into the good vibes and had music playing and supported you along the way. I was really grateful for the spectator map bc it made it so easy on my husband to find me along the course, we're both still new to living in the area!

"The race is a fun, well-organized, and great race!" (about: 2018)
11-50 previous marathons
| 4-5 Bryan/College Station Marathons
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This race is fun, so well organized, and had a great energy behind it. There are tons of volunteers, water/snack stations, and port-a-potties along the course to help all your needs during the race. I took a few years off because I had a couple kids and I was so excited to come back and run this race!

"I love this race it is so well put together" (about: 2018)
First Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 From the spectators to the people at the finish line everything about this race is awesome! I have ran the half a couple of times and this was my first marathon and I'm so glad I chose BCS for my first! As soon as I crossed the finish line volunteers were there making sure that I was ok and there to help with anything I needed! Thank you so much for an amazing first marathon experience!!

"So much encouragement and support" (about: 2018)
3 previous marathons
| 3 Bryan/College Station Marathons
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was 3rd time running the BCS marathon and I felt nothing but encouragement from the starting line to the finish line. The spectators were amazing in their support of every runner who passed them by, genuinely wanting them to do their best. The volunteers likewise were both encouraging and supportive, making the race easier for us runners. The most surprising thing about this race was that even passing motorists showed their support for those running the race. This race was by no means a one-man deal. Runners need people like these volunteers, spectators, and police officers to ensure a smooth run. I thought the organization of the race was great, even though the course itself was changed up some, running on different streets that I didn't in last year's race. It was a good challenge. I absolutely love this marathon and look forward to running it again in years to come.

"Loved it!" (about: 2018)
6-10 previous marathons
| 4-5 Bryan/College Station Marathons
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 Great Race! There were parts of the course where we had to skirt around big puddles and a lot of the roads were uneven (running on a sideways slant is unpleasant), but it's a great course and fun race. the post-race area was amazing. Best I've ever seen. I loved the hoodies this year, SO COOL. I've only worn my other finishing jackets when I run out of clean laundry, but I will wear these ALL THE TIME. The expo was a bit of a let-down. It felt weird being in a hospital, made me feel like I was prepping for where to come after I got injured during the race (I didn't though!). Also, not many interesting booths. Really, really helpful volunteers though!!! There's a lot of races with cooler-sounding destinations (also the name is a bit of a mouthful), but this is best-run race I've ever seen.

"Fantastic flat course with good crowd support!" (about: 2018)
6-10 previous marathons
| 1 Bryan/College Station Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 The course is very flat and takes you through different parts of town which keeps your mind and eyes occupied. My only complaint was the marking of the course was somewhat difficult to discern in certain spots. At Wellborn and George Bush, there was a spot where you had to cross a 5 lane road, but there weren't any directions to indicate that. I only knew to do it because the people in front of me did it. Again, great course and I will definitely be doing it again. |
