COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 This was my second half marathon, and I'm so glad that Chris organized the BCS marathon because otherwise I would have never known I could run 13.1 mi. -Friendly director, great volunteers, just a really fun race! and the best part about it is that 100% of the proceeds go to Ghana! that makes me so happy! -The spectators were awesome, I'd just like to see even more! It would be great to get the whole community involved in such a fantastic race

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 Living in Houston, I only found out about this event by chance. Well organized, interesting course, good spectator support, great food/beer at the finish and really nice shirts and medals. If prefer smallish marathons, you won't find a better one than this. Run it before the word gets out!

"One of the most organized, beautiful race I've ran" (about: 2012)
First Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 You can tell this event was so organized and filled with effort. Chris is outstanding. For one, I usually don't even know the race directors name, but I feel like I personally know him although we've never met. The course goes through BCS and goes right through campus. I was able to give my sister a play by play of exactly where I had classes on campus which was pretty cool. The staff with BCS is so so soooooo welcoming! I was planning on going for a full marathon in April in my hometown Dallas, but part of me feels like I HAVE to do it here because I would feel much more accomplished. I love the BCS marathon and I am definitely recruiting people for next year's!

"Fantastic experience for my first half marathon!" (about: 2012)
First Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was my first half marathon...the race coordinators should be commended! The additional help from the temperate weather didn't hurt! It was a very well organized event, and the course was challenging and interesting at the same time. As a Former Student, the few miles through Campus brought back alot of great memories. I thought it was great (and motivating) that many from the community, Texas A&M and the surrounding neighborhoods, came out to support the runners. We will likely run in this event again next year, and I highly recommend it for any level of runner.

"AWESOME RACE!" (about: 2012)

| 1 Bryan/College Station Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I have done races all over the country. This surpassed many of the 'big' races put on by production companies. Attention to detail was apparent. Great job to all involved in putting on the event!

"Excellent organization!" (about: 2012)
11-50 previous marathons
| 1 Bryan/College Station Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 Pros: 1) excellent organization; 2) great 'schwag' - 2 shirts, nice medal, another medal for top 3 in each age group, and a jacket for the age group winner; 3) great food at the finish - bbq, breakfast burritos, cookies, choc milk, beer, margaritas - something for everyone; 4) great, helpful, friendly volunteers and excellent police officers controlling traffic; 5) plentiful well-stocked water stops; 6) an over-the-top RD who goes out of his way to make the race a fantastic experience - everything from frequent updates on FB to hugging runners as they cross the finish line. Cons - not many. Not the most scenic course but does have some pretty sections. Spectators are a bit spread out but those who are there are enthusiastic. This year's weather was hot and windy but the RD had cold/wet towels out on the marathon course to help with over-heating issues. Overall, I highly recommend if you're looking for a smaller (roughly 600 marathon finishers this year) marathon with as many or more perks than many of the larger ones. |
