"Bucketlist Marathon/Half Marathon" (about: 2015)

The New Years Double event in Allen, TX is a must do race for all Marathon/Half Marathoners! I've completed it three years now and even though running back to back 26.2/13.1 distances is a bit painful, I still look forward to this event every year! The organization of the event is top notch! The medals are must-haves! The support from volunteers and spectators every year makes it worth every step! Since it can be a two day event, it makes it all the more worth while to even mark it as a destination race for out of towners!

"Challenge Met" (about: 2015)

COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 3

Went to complete my first double marathon. The packet pickup was fast and easy. The park where the race is held is very beautiful. The multiloop track was as expected, hard concrete and repetitive (marathoners did 4 laps). To my surprise it was not uninteresting. You get to see and cheer for many fellow runners along the way. The weather was cold and dry the first day. Few spectators but very enthusiastic volunteers. This is not a Big City Frills event, but a challenge race with awesome support. You will want to do a double combination to get the challenge plate.

"A great small race" (about: 2014)

This was a great small race. I have normally done huge races, so it was nice to have a small one that was well managed. The course was narrow at times but it wasn't to bad. The only time it was really crowded was at the start but that is in all races. They had great support for the runners on the course. Would love to do it again.

This was my first race, so I don't know what to compare it to. But I really liked it and was inspired by the whole thing.

"Amazing race ran by an amazing team!" (about: 2013)

I loved this event a lot. I ran the 5K and the Full on New Years Eve and the 5K and the Full on New Years Day. It is small loop - out & back course that you run twice for a half and four times for a full. The course is well supported with aids stations provided by local sports and running groups and there are many spectators. The course is near a large play area which provides entertainment for the little ones. The bling from all of the Active Joe races is to die for amazing and this year was no different. The entire Active Joe team are runners and they all know how to make an event incredible and special. The race director limits the number of runners given the course and she corrals them to keep distance to make for a safe and comfortable running environment. This really is a must do race.

This is a fast, flat, course. Very well organized with ample course support. I have nothing bad to say!

"Must-Run" (about: 2013)

11-50 previous marathons | 4-5 New Year's Eve Marathons
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

Sure, it's cliche...but this race truly is a must-run. Perhaps you want to aim to finish off the year with your biggest challenge of the year or start off the next on the right foot.....or perhaps you rrrreally go crazy and run 'em both. Whatever your reason, find one to do this one!

Libby (RD) takes a personal interest in making sure each runner is well cared for and feels the gravitas of their accomplishment.

The course has ZERO vehicle traffic and plenty of fellow racers to cheer on or be cheered on by! Great aid stations stocked with super enthusiastic folks and lots of crowd support to boot!

"Good local race, lots of camaraderie!" (about: 2013)

1 previous marathon | 1 New Year's Eve Marathon
COURSE: 3  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This was my first marathon and I picked it because it was in my own backyard - wouldn't have to get up at 4:0 AM and park offsite and catch a parking shuttle! It was very well organized, details were well communicated. The entry fee was very reasonable and I liked the fact that it was a local community race. Because the course was within a loop, it did get a bit repetitive and uninteresting(especially since I did a lot of my training there)but it was efficiently laid out. There were many enthusiastic supporters!! Would recommend and would run again.

"Fantastically run race" (about: 2013)

4-5 previous marathons

I ran the 1/2 marathon on New Years Eve. The organization of the event was outstanding, with wonderful spectators. The finishers medals are second to none, and this was the third race I participated in from Active Joe for the year.....Fantastic, cold clear weather, great volunteers! A must run

D. D. from McKinney, TX (1/1/2013)
"Great, well-organized, small race" (about: 2012)

6-10 previous marathons | 1 New Year's Eve Marathon
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

I ran the Eve marathon in freezing, cold rain...yet still loved every minute of it. I got a PR despite the weather. I've run lots of major marathons, and this race is just as organized and staffed with amazing volunteers. Course is repetitive, yes, but you know that going in. Makes it easy for friends/family to see you multiple times on the course. RD is great with updates and tips on FB and website. Will definitely run again.
