"great race - well run" (about: 2013)

The course is very scenic! The aid stations were plentiful and the way the race is run leads to getting running at pace faster.

I am so happy I chose this event as my first half marathon. I loved the scenic route. Although there were some confusion at a few spots were the course looped around. Some runners didn't know it was a two-way road and I was almost run over by an oncoming runner. The volunteers did their best to guide runners into the right directions. I loved the spectators along the route, they were very supportive. The volunteers did fantastic to use our names and shout out directly to us for encouragement. The absolute best part was the fantastic finish stretch on the bridge. The announcer made me feel like I was the only one there. Such an unforgettable moment. I will run again next year!!!

My 5 year old son was able to finish the marathon with me. He was so excited to run with me. A very well organized race.

First Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This was my first marathon, but this race was a great choice for my first. The course was as shady and flat as one could possibly hope for. There was a lot of support all along the course (and I was one of the later finsishers - even then people stayed to cheer us on). There was plenty of water and gatorade on the course. The communication from the race directors leading up to the race was great. I also very much appreciated the organized training runs associated with the race. It was great to meet some other people that helped me through the race itself and made those LONG training runs leading up to the event bearable.

Very well organized event. Has the feel of running in the countryside with the riverside trail. Very flat course only one or two short hills. Spectators not numerous but they make up for it in enthusiasm, especially enjoyed the folks who kept reappearing along the course, felt like new friends! Really liked the dine and dash dinner as I was traveling alone and had the chance to connect with some other runners and locals. Only criticism was the packet pickup which felt cramped, they could use a bigger space, otherwise great race!

"Well-organized, but one thing to change" (about: 2013)

The course was awesome. Cool, shady, and spectator friendly. It was impressive how organized the routes were, having three distances to manage, especially with out and backs. The only thing I would have liked changed was to close the trails off to the public. There were many times when we had to move around people walking, deal with bikers flying past, etc.

First Marathon

This was the most well organized, fun and enthusiastic marathon I have ever run and, most likely, will ever have the honor of running. Volunteers and leaders make the race. I am moving this coming year to GA and will miss having this race available to me.

This was my first marathon and it was very organized. I was nervous after doing the disaster test run Dick Ponds put on and was worried the course was going to be as poorly marked as it was then. But I am happy to say it was very well marked with plenty of water stations. And thanks to the medics for getting me back into the race.

"Near perfect marathon" (about: 2013)

Positives:
* Excellent organization
* Love the Race Flex option
* Beautiful course
* Wonderful volunteers at all stops, pick up's, gear check, etc.
* Pacers were great

Could improve:
* The trails were to narrow when the 13.1, 20 and marathon groups were together. Made it difficult to pass and felt a bit to cozy.
* Offer a packet mailing option in addition to pick up. Kind of a pain to make a special trip.
