"Great small race!" (about: 2013)

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Had a great time. Amazing to run a race where everything goes to a great cause. Nice relatively flat race. Only thought would be to make some spots better and perhaps the mile makers more noticeable. I have read some comment regarding direction of run. While it seemed like the route would switch sides, from a medical perspective this is great because running on one side only puts a lot of stress on joints and ligaments in a non bilateral fashion. Overall great experience, amazing post race set up, loved the finish line things, and hope it continues to grow!

"First marathon, blown away!" (about: 2013)
First Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I chose the BCS Marathon as my first full partially because I am a graduate of Texas A&M, and the race is held on my old stomping grounds. I did not expect such an amazingly well run event. The RD's have an extraordinary attention to detail in every way imaginable. The months leading up the marathon had frequent giveaways and status updates, the pre-race expo was quick to get in an out of (and had cheap running swag!), the parking was easy and painless. The course itself was fairly flat with some well-timed (or terribly-timed, depending on how you look at it) hills in the middle miles, and ending with a nice downhill for a mile or two. The aid stations were well-stocked and the volunteers were awesome. The cheering section, both impromptu locals and organized groups in Christmas-y costumes, were outstanding and a great motivator. The last bit of the course had a special touch with faces of African children that were saved from terrible conditions by the Mercy Project, a chief sponsor. It was heartwarming and helped push me to finish strong. The medal is huge and well-designed and the free shirts are things I'll wear on a regular basis. The post-race food was glorious and had some tasty local vendors (including pizza rolls and burgers), and there was even craft beer (Karbach, specifically) on tap for free! I am 100% satisfied with making this my first full marathon experience, and I'd recommend it to anyone. It is truly the best damn race in Texas!

"very organized/friendly race" (about: 2013)

| 1 Bryan/College Station Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This is a smaller venue race, and that's a good thing. I woke up at 6, left at 6:20 and arrived at 6:25. Plenty of port a potties at the start line. The medal and finisher's shirt were excellent. The food and drinks were excellent. Most importantly, the race staff worked tirelessly to make this a great race for us. We received regular emails regarding possible weather problems. The director even opened up extra spots due to the Dallas race being cancelled. Overall it is a very friendly race and well worth the registration fee.

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 The whole race was super organized, from the pre-race information & updates (including almost hourly updates on the weather the night before and morning of the race) to the awesome volunteers and the FANTASTIC post-race spread. COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 This run was great! I ran in their relay today, and my only critique would be to have bathroom options at all of the relay exchange points. Everything else was perfect!
