The level of information and the updates were helpful and motivating. The route was interesting. The after party excellent. Great food selection. The medal was pretty and the jacket is soft.

"Great Half Marathon without the huge crowds" (about: 2019)

Loved this half marathon. Nice course and small enough where you never feel like you are jammed up. Nice community cheering us on and aid stations were well placed and were smooth. Great organization and camaraderie.

The cop leading the race kept stopping and then would speed past us which I didn't like in the aspect of having a vehicle so close to me at times. There was an intersection where the cops didn't stop cars until 5 meters before we crossed it which as a runner I felt scared thinking I was going to have to run through traffic. Then when running through that same intersection the cop leading us stopped right in front of me to where I almost ran into the motorcycle. Lastly the cop took a wrong turn and if the guy who I was running with wasn't from A&M we would of taken the wrong turn.

First marathon. Loved it. The emails the week before the event were very helpful. Organization of event was very good from my point of view. Not sure what the corral tags on the bibs were for but other than that, seemed like the event went off without a hitch.

"Awesome course, even better spectators" (about: 2019)

First Marathon

Mile 3 - a spectator calls 'Go! Go! You can do it!'
Mile 6 - the same spectator has followed the race and shouts out 'I know it's starting to hurt now!' I reply 'It really is!' We laugh
Mile 10 - the same spectator is still following the race and shouts out 'Looking great! Keep pushing through!'
Finish Line - the same spectator and I shake hands; really encouraging having a complete stranger keep cheering for people throughout the race and getting to know them throughout it

Love the course for the half marathon. Mileage seemed a little longer than 13.1. Loved the jacket at the finish line. Loved the beer at the finish line. There wasn't any option for plant based diet other than beer. Friendly spectators, great volunteers!

While the roads in town are not the best (pretty slanted in some areas, making it hard to run at an angle) the half marathon route is very nice, through some fun neighborhoods full of spectators to scenic areas around campus!

"SOOOO well planned!" (about: 2019)

Runners come into this race knowing everything because of the outstanding planning and organization and really, really good pre-race communication. No stress start, well-publicized aid and water stations, and a wonderful celebration at the end make for a great experience. Thanks, all, who contribute.

"All-around amazing marathon experience!" (about: 2019)

First Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This was my first full marathon and it did not disappoint.

Every aspect of it was awesome. From the point of registering, there was excellent communication and interaction through the website, emails, and social media. The website was well-organized and contained a lot of usual information and links. Everything I wanted and more. I never felt spammed by emails. Always informative, especially down the stretch as we approached race day. The weekly training emails were also greatly appreciated. Social media interaction was great as well. It kept everyone engaged and informed. Loved "Free Shoes Friday" in connection with Brazos Running Company, giving weekly opportunities to win free running shoes.

The race day experience was amazing. I loved the emcee's enthusiasm and engagement with the runners at start and finish areas. The course and route were great. Well-marked and coned off, never any confusion. Traffic control was excellent - a BIG THANKS to all of the police officers. And big thanks to all of the volunteers. There were lots of enthusiastic, motivating volunteers along the route and at all the stations, which were perfectly spaced. You could tell how much the people of Bryan/College Station cared. And their signs were awesome, motivating and funny. I looked forward to seeing the next one.

The finish was great too. I especially loved all of the Mercy Project signs of rescued children as you approached the finish line. More enthusiastic volunteers were there to give out finisher medals just after crossing the line. And the PR gong was a great touch. Loved seeing and hearing runners ring it. There was a great spread, great variety of foods and drinks at finisher's reception area. I greatly appreciated all the chocolate milk, fruit and breakfast tacos--but there was so much more. They even had a tent where massages were provided, if you wanted one.

Overall, it was an excellent experience. I will be back next year for the BCS Marathon 10th anniversary and look forward to ringing that gong!

"Great day and great cause!" (about: 2019)

I made a wrong turn once during the full (between mile 17 & 18) and did not realize it. Thankfully it spit back on the course and I had NO idea! This put me at 26.41 miles using the Nike Run app. My husband stated people were turning right and some were running straight. Eventually, there was an official to help! I believe the people that went the route ran close to 800 meters extra compared to my accidental route which put me close to a marathon distance with my tracking app (I understand mine is not the one to determine the perfect distance). Fantastic planning though! Very thankful for everything.
