"Always well done, encouraging, inclusive, wonderfu" (about: 2019)

I have participated every year. Every year the course is great, the start and finish get better, and I always feel included and encouraged. The best part is the faces of the children who have been saved by Mercy Projects' effort. At the end, when it gets really tough, I think of what those children have endured and keep going.

"First half marathon and I loved it!!!" (about: 2019)

First Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 4

Probably couldn't have asked for a better course for my first half marathon. Easy to follow, well marked, tons of people directing traffic. The start was a little confusing with no real direction, I never did find my corral or pacer, but the after party was so much fun with great food and drinks. It was a little confusing how to find the results tent, I would change its location next year, but other than that- amazing race.

I've run the half marathon distance twice now, and have absolutely loved it each time. There is so much support along the entire course, and the energy of the spectators is always so much fun. I love the experience itself but also the purpose of this race - freeing kids in Ghana out of slavery. I'll definitely be back to run it again.

"The awesome environment made this race amazing." (about: 2019)

I loved it all! The volunteers were awesome as usual and the spectators made the race less painful to run with their constant encouragement.

More than anything, I love that this race is so much more than a 26 mile run. It executes a larger mission in helping combat child slavery in Ghana. Thank you Mr. Field, for seeing the bigger picture and bringing your vision to life.

To anyone who hasn't run the BCS Marathon/Half-Marathon, please give it a try. I promise you it will be one you won't forget. Big city spirit in a small town.

"Best race in the area" (about: 2019)

This was a very well organized and supported race. From the emails and race day info that was sent days before the race to the onsite personal and volunteers at the race site. Everything was as promoted. Expo was easy to navigate with great vendors. The course was pretty and well marked with volunteers and mile markers.

"BCS makes it personal. They make it YOUR race!" (about: 2019)

I hope no one else finds out how good this race is! Just kidding. I was a little worried a few years ago when Dallas was canceled due to ice, that they would come down and figure out how much better the BCS Marathon is (I think many of them did just that) but every year it gets better and the heart of the whole thing (Mercy Project) is what sets it apart. This is My race and I have ran it and supported it sense the beginning and will continue to.

"Amazing race!" (about: 2019)

From the lead up to the actual marathon to the day of, the organizers made sure that I felt supported and prepared. We landed up being in the back of the pack, and when we crossed the finish line I heard an official for the marathon say "do not pack up the food until everyone crosses the finish line." AMAZING! This race is a must do!

"A great race for an even better cause" (about: 2019)

This race is incredible for so many reasons. The course is great, but the folks along the sides cheering you on takes it to a new level. My favorite this year was the spin class that came out, blasted some highly motivating jams, and really helped me get through those last few miles. The cherry on top, however, is the last quarter mile where they have all the photos of the children they have rescued from slavery in Ghana. It's such an emotional finish as you accomplish a goal running the race as well as see all the beautiful smiling faces of children who get to have their childhoods and families back.

"Great experience awesome after party" (about: 2019)

3 previous marathons

From beginning to end this race did not disappoint. The expo was nice for a race this size. The pick up process was organized. For the race itself it was easy to park and there were ample port a potties. The run support was incredible as was the after party refreshments and beverages. The margaritas were an awesome surprise since I'm not a beer drinker. My only critiques are use larger sized Kleenex, it was too hard to grab and one wasn't enough. I also found it hard to navigate the turn just before Hubaloo Blvd store. I couldn't see where to turn with all the traffic.

"Perfect first half marathon experience!" (about: 2019)

First Marathon
COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This was my first time to run a half marathon, I enjoyed it so much. I loved the crowd support, all the people out cheering and holding signs made it so much fun. The hydration and gu stations were fantastic! The Project Mercy kids' portraits in the last leg of the race pushed me through when I became tired, such a nice touch! I will never forget this race, I'm so glad I chose it as my first half, and I look forward to running again next year!
